What gets in the way for racket sports coaches.

Lessons and court bookings get muddled
Players aren’t sure whether they’re booking a lesson, a group place or just court time, or whether the court fee is extra. The questions land on you, and double bookings happen when the venue’s system and your diary don’t agree.
No-shows in small groups
A group of four with one no-show still costs you the court and your time. Without payment at booking and a clear cancellation rule, the empty place is your loss.
Term groups and waiting lists in spreadsheets
Group coaching runs in terms or blocks, and the waiting list for the popular evening slots lives in a spreadsheet or a WhatsApp chat. When a place opens, finding who asked first takes longer than it should.
Calls missed on court
You can’t take a call mid-lesson. A new player ringing about beginner sessions hears voicemail and tries the next coach on the map.

How your customers choose.

Players find a coach through their club, the venue where they play, a friend or a search like “tennis lessons near me” or “padel coaching Chichester”. Adults want to know who you coach, where you teach, what a lesson costs, whether court time is included and whether there’s a group at their standard. Tennis players may look for LTA accreditation, and badminton and squash players may ask about coaching qualifications from Badminton England or England Squash. Padel and pickleball bring in plenty of complete beginners who need to know where to start. For mixed academies, parents book the junior groups and adults book their own sessions.

Can players book a lesson without booking the court separately?

Often, yes. If you have an arrangement with your venue, the lesson price can include the court and the booking page says so plainly. If players must book the court themselves, the page explains where and how. Sammy checks how your venue handles court bookings before anything is set up.

What does a no-show really cost a racket coach?

More than the lesson fee. There’s the court you paid for, the slot you turned other players away from and the time you spent getting there. The session no-show cost calculator works it out for lessons, groups and court time. Taking payment when people book, with a clear cancellation rule, is the usual fix, and the guide to reducing no-shows with deposits explains how.

Which qualifications should a racket sports coach show?

Whatever you hold, with the body that awarded it. For tennis that may be your LTA accreditation and coaching qualification level. For badminton or squash, coaching qualifications from Badminton England or England Squash. Add first aid and your insurance, and your DBS check if you coach juniors. Players can’t check what isn’t on the page.
