Websites, local search and booking for driving instructors

M1 Studio builds websites for driving instructors and driving schools, sets up your Google Business Profile and texts back the calls you miss while you’re teaching. Your ADI status, your areas and your prices sit where learners and their parents can see them.

What gets in the way for driving schools.

Calls come in while you’re teaching
You can’t answer with a learner at the wheel. A pupil ringing to book, or a parent ringing about availability, hears voicemail and often messages the next instructor instead.
Late cancellations
A lesson cancelled the night before is an hour you can rarely fill. Without a written cancellation policy and payment taken up front, you carry the cost.
A waiting list with no system
When your diary is full, new enquiries pile up in texts and WhatsApp chats. When a pupil passes and a slot opens, the people who asked first are hard to find.
Test booking questions
Since 12 May 2026 only the learner can book, change or cancel their own practical test, and instructors can’t do it for them. Pupils need clear guidance from you on when to book, and a page on your website saves answering it by text every week.

How your customers choose.

Many learners find an instructor through a friend who passed, a parent’s recommendation or a search like “driving lessons near me”, then compare a few names in the map results. They look at reviews, the areas and test centres you cover, whether you teach manual or automatic, your hourly price and block booking deals, and whether you have space soon. Parents often pay, so they read more carefully: they want to know you’re a DVSA approved driving instructor, and they can search DVSA’s find an instructor service or look for the green ADI badge in your windscreen. When a learner does get in touch, it’s often by text or WhatsApp, and many message several instructors at once.

Can I still book driving tests for my pupils?

No. Since 12 May 2026 only the learner can book, change, swap or cancel their own car driving test, and it’s against the law for an instructor or anyone else to book one for them. Learners can make 2 changes to a booking. DVSA sets out the details in its guidance on the 2026 booking rules.

A short page on your own site explaining when pupils should book, and how it fits with their lessons, saves answering the same question again and again. The Foundation Build can include one.

Should my website show that I’m an ADI?

Yes. Say clearly that you’re a DVSA approved driving instructor, and show your ADI number if you’re happy to. Parents can check instructors through DVSA’s find a driving instructor service, though instructors choose whether to be listed there. If your school has trainees teaching on a trainee licence, say who teaches what.

See how a site and Google profile work together in getting more reviews as a driving instructor.

How do I cut down on late lesson cancellations?

Set a notice period, write it down and show it when pupils book. Taking payment or a deposit at booking, and sending a reminder the day before, both help. The page on driving lesson cancellations goes through it step by step, and the no-show cost calculator shows what cancellations cost you.
