Why is my accountancy website not getting enquiries?
Usually because it doesn’t answer the three things a small business owner checks first: who the accountants are, whether you work with businesses like theirs, and roughly what it costs. Add named people with their professional body, packages by client type with “from” prices, and a short enquiry form on every page.

Why it happens to accountants and bookkeepers.
- They’re choosing who sees their finances
- A sole trader or company director is about to hand over bank statements and tax affairs. A site with no names, photos or professional body (ICAEW, ACCA, AAT, ICB or another) gives them no reason to trust you over the next practice.
- No sense of cost
- Many owners compare fixed monthly packages. If your site says only “contact us for a quote”, many assume you’re expensive and move on to a practice that shows a starting figure.
- One page for every kind of client
- A landlord, a new limited company and a VAT-registered builder want different things. A single services page doesn’t tell any of them you understand their situation.
- Seasonal searches with nowhere to land
- People search for help with Self Assessment before 31 January, or for Making Tax Digital for Income Tax, which started in April 2026 for sole traders and landlords with qualifying income over £50,000. A general home page rarely answers those searches.
What to do, in order.
Put your people on the site
Names, photos and each person’s qualification or professional body. Add your practice address and how long you’ve been running.
Show packages by client type
Sole trader, limited company, landlord, bookkeeping only. Say what each includes and give a “from” price if you can stand by it.
Build pages for the seasonal questions
A Self Assessment page for late filers in January and a Making Tax Digital page, written or checked by you, since M1 gives no tax advice.
Ask better first questions
Business type, rough turnover, whether they’re VAT registered and when their year ends. That lets you quote from the first reply.
Get help where it fits
A Foundation Blueprint (£200) is a written diagnosis of why visitors aren’t getting in touch, and what to fix first. An Enquiry Page (£800) gives one package, such as sole trader accounts, its own focused page.
Where M1 can do it for you.
Fixed prices, or a fixed quote before any work starts. No VAT is charged. Any running costs are listed before you agree.

Should I show fixed fees or hourly rates?
That’s your call. Many small business owners find fixed monthly packages easier to compare, so showing “from” prices for your main packages often helps. If you work hourly, say how you estimate a job. See the guide to websites that don’t bring enquiries for the other common gaps.
Can M1 write our tax pages?
M1 can write and lay out pages about the services you offer, but not tax advice. Anything technical, like Making Tax Digital thresholds, is checked and approved by you before it goes live.
Do accountants need a Google Business Profile?
Yes, if you want to appear when people search “accountant near me”. Fill in your services and hours and ask clients for reviews after year end work. The glossary explains what a profile is.
