Why is my pest control business not showing on Google Maps?
Usually because your Google Business Profile is unverified, set up with the wrong main category or missing the areas and pests you cover, so Google can’t match you to searches like “wasp nest removal near me”. Verify the profile, hide your home address, choose pest control as the main category and list each pest as a service.

Why it happens to pest control businesses.
- Most pest controllers work from home
- That makes you a service-area business in Google’s eyes. The address should be hidden and your service areas set instead, and getting this wrong can hold up verification.
- Searches are by pest
- People search “wasp nest removal”, “rat control” or “bed bug treatment”, not just “pest control”. A profile with no services listed has little to match.
- Keyword names break the rules
- Names like “Wasp Nest Removal Chichester” break Google’s rules unless that’s your real business name, and can get the profile suspended.
- Distance decides a lot
- Google weighs relevance, distance and how well known a business is. If you’re based out of town, you may not appear for searches in the centre, however good the profile.
What to do, in order.
Search like a customer
In a private window, search “pest control” and “wasp nest removal” plus a town you cover. Then search your exact name to check your profile is live.
Verify and set your service area
Claim the profile, complete verification, hide your home address and add the towns or postcodes you cover.
List every pest as a service
Wasps, rats, mice, bed bugs, moles, birds, and commercial contracts, each in plain words.
Show your credentials
Mention your BPCA or other membership and qualifications in your description, and add real photos of your work. If you offer unmarked visits, say so.

Should I show my home address on Google?
No, not if customers don’t visit you. Google asks service-area businesses to hide the address and set the areas they serve instead. See service-area business.
Can photos of branded vans hurt customers who want discretion?
Photos on your profile don’t show up outside anyone’s house. It’s fine to show your van, and to say clearly that you can come in an unmarked vehicle if you offer that.
How long until I appear in the map results?
There’s no fixed timeline, and nobody can promise a position. A complete profile and steady reviews are what you can control. The guide to not showing on Google walks through the checks.
