Why is my landscaping business not showing on Google Maps?
Usually because your Google Business Profile is unverified, shows an address customers can’t visit instead of your service areas, or has a main category that doesn’t match your core work, such as Gardener when you mainly build patios. Verify it, choose the main category that fits what you do most, list the areas you cover and fill it with photos of finished gardens.

- Yes, the first steps below
Why it happens to landscapers.
- The category doesn’t match the work
- Google offers Landscaper, Landscape designer, Gardener and Lawn care service, among others. A design and build firm listed as Gardener, or a maintenance round listed as Landscape designer, gets matched to the wrong searches.
- A home or yard address on show
- Many landscapers work from home or a yard where clients never visit. Google treats that as a service-area business: hide the address and list the areas you serve.
- Rural areas stretch the distance
- You may cover villages spread across miles. Google weighs how far you are from the searcher, so you can be missing from searches in towns at the edge of your patch.
- A profile with no gardens in it
- Landscaping sells on pictures. A profile with a logo and no finished patios, lawns or planting gives searchers nothing to go on and Google little to match.
What to do, in order.
Search like a customer
In a private browser window, search “landscaper” plus a town you cover and look at the map results. Then search your business name to check the profile is live.
Verify and set service areas
Claim the profile, finish verification, hide your home or yard address and add the towns and villages you cover.
Pick the right main category
The one that matches most of your work. Add others only for work you really do, such as Lawn care service if you run maintenance rounds.
Add services and real photos
List patios, fencing, turfing, planting and maintenance in plain words. Add before and after photos of real gardens, saying which town each is in.
Have it done properly in one go
The Local Search Fix fills in your profile, fixes the key pages on your website, adds schema markup and sets up review requests to every customer.

Which Google category should a landscaper choose?
The one that describes most of your work. Landscaper suits design and build firms, Landscape designer suits design-led work, and Gardener or Lawn care service suits maintenance rounds. You can add secondary categories for other work you really do. See primary category.
Can I show my yard as my business address?
Only if customers can visit it during your stated hours. A yard where you keep materials and machines usually doesn’t count. Hide it and set your service areas instead. The service-area business entry explains how that works.
How long until I show up after fixing it?
There’s no fixed timeline, and nobody can promise a map position. Some changes show within days, others take weeks. The guide to not showing on Google covers the checks you can do yourself.
