How can a roofer get more Google reviews?
Ask every customer on the day the job is signed off, with a direct link to your Google review form, and send one polite reminder a few days later. Because many homeowners worry about doorstep rogue traders, a steady run of recent, detailed reviews does a lot of the trust work before they ever call you.

Why it happens to roofers.
- Fewer, bigger jobs
- A roofer might finish a handful of jobs a week, not dozens, so reviews build slowly unless you ask every single customer.
- The customer isn’t there at the end
- You often pack up the scaffold or finish while the homeowner is at work. The natural moment to ask gets missed.
- Reviews sit on other sites
- Many roofers collect reviews on Checkatrade or similar sites. Those help there, but people searching Google Maps see your Google reviews first.
- People read them for warning signs
- After stories about cowboy roofers, homeowners look at how recent your reviews are and whether they mention real jobs, not just the star rating.
What to do, in order.
Get your review link
In your Google Business Profile, copy the “ask for reviews” link. Save it on your phone so you can send it in seconds.
Ask at sign-off, with photos
Send the customer before and after photos of their roof, then the review link. The photos remind them what you did and give them something to talk about.
Ask everyone
Google’s rules say no incentives, no fake reviews and no asking only the happy customers. Ask every customer the same way.
Reply to every review
Thank people by name and mention the job. Reply calmly to any complaint and say how you put it right. Future customers read the replies too.
Make the asking automatic
The Local Search Fix and Missed-Call Rescue both set up review requests that go to every customer after the job.

Can I give a discount for a Google review?
No. Google’s rules ban offering anything in return for a review, including discounts. Ask plainly, and make it easy with a direct link.
Can I move my Checkatrade reviews onto Google?
No. Google reviews have to be left by the customer on Google. You can show other reviews on your own website, within that site’s terms, and ask past customers to review you on Google as well.
What should I do about a bad review?
Reply once, politely, with the facts and what you did to fix it. Don’t argue. A calm reply often reassures the next homeowner more than a perfect score would.
