How should a wedding supplier follow up an enquiry that’s gone quiet?
Reply the same day with your availability for their date, a price guide and one clear next step, then follow up after three or four days and once more a week later. Couples contact several suppliers at once and often go quiet while they wait on the venue or each other, not because they’ve ruled you out.

Why it happens to wedding businesses.
- The venue comes first
- Many couples can’t commit to a photographer, caterer or florist until the venue has confirmed their date. Your quote waits on someone else’s.
- More than two people decide
- Your brochure goes to a partner, and often to parents who are paying. It sits in a group chat while everyone has an opinion.
- One date, one booking
- For most suppliers, one wedding means one date. A quiet enquiry keeps a date in your head that you may be turning others away from.
- Long gaps between enquiry and wedding
- Couples often enquire a year or more ahead. They may be saving up or still setting the budget, and a follow-up months later can be well timed.
What to do, in order.
Answer the date question first
Start your reply with “Yes, we’re available on 14 June” or “Sorry, we’re booked that day”. It’s the one thing they need to know.
Send the price guide and what’s included
Packages or “from” prices and exactly what each includes, so they can compare you fairly with the others.
Offer one next step
A call, a video chat, a show-round or a tasting. One clear step is easier to say yes to than a list of options.
Follow up twice, then close kindly
After 3 or 4 days, then a week later. If they’ve gone elsewhere, wish them well; many couples recommend suppliers who were gracious.
Be honest about the date
If another couple asks about the same date, tell the first couple, but only if it’s true. If you hold dates, say for how long.

Is it pushy to follow up a wedding enquiry?
Not if each message is short and useful. Couples are juggling many suppliers and a reminder with the date, your price guide and one next step often helps them. The guide to following up a quote has example wording.
Should I hold a date without a deposit?
That’s your call. Some suppliers hold a date for a set number of days after the first call, then release it. Say how long clearly, and keep to it.
Can I add couples to my marketing emails?
Replies about their enquiry are fine. Newsletters and offers are marketing, which has consent rules under PECR. Ask for permission clearly. M1 doesn’t give legal advice.
